THURAYA Satellite Helpful Tips
1. Starting up a New Service
- Go out doors to an area clear of obstructions to the southwest side.
- Fully extend antenna
- Turn on the phone and wait for at least 15 minutes for the system to register.
- The phone should show THURAYA NEPAL and the signal should not be blinking.
- If it does not show Thuraya Nepal on the screen. Take the GPS reading.
2. System Preference Check
- Make sure that the system preference of the phones on SAT ONLY
- To check, press menu – system pref – select
- If it is not on SAT ONLY press change and choose the SAT ONLY.
3. Making a Call
- Fully extend antennae (until click)
- Make sure you are outdoors with good reception
- Dial 00 – country code – city code – number
- Press Call
4. Entering SMS Center Number
- Menu – Settings – SMS Parameter – SMS Center
- +882161900000
- (+ is the same as 00, to get + sign hold down on number 0 for 2 seconds)
5. Sending SMS
- Menu – Message – Write Message – Option – Send – Select recipient
6. Sending SMS to an Email address from Phone
- Menu – Message – Write Message – Option – Format – Email – Send – Enter email address – Enter 1200 for Email Center Number
7. Sending SMS to Phone from Internet:
- http://services.thuraya.com/sms.html
8. Checking GPS Position:
- Menu – GPS Manager – Current Position
9. Charging Prepaid account from phone:
- Dial 150 – press 1 – enter 14 digit numbers with # at the end.
10. Checking your Prepaid account credit:
- Dial 151
11. Refill Your Prepaid Account with a Scratch Card Online:
- Log onto http://services.thuraya.com
- Select the “Online Scratch Card Refill” option.
- Type in the MSISDN and the password and then click on the ‘Login’ button.
- Key in the 14 digit scratch card pin code and click on the “Submit” button.
- Note: The password may be obtained by sending a message to 1522 one time only
12. Activating your Voice Mailbox:
- Dial 123 and follow instructions.
- Then go to call divert to choose which calls to divert to voice mail.
- To check your voice message: dial 123
13. Blinking Icon: a blinking icon appears when you have not turned on the sat phone or if the sat phone was out of satellite coverage for over 8 hours. While the icon at the top right corner of your screen is blinking, then you cannot make a call.
- Extend your antenna outdoors and wait for few minutes until the blinking stops.
- If the blinking persists press Menu – Network – Sat Registration and wait.
- If the blinking still persists, turn off the phone and back on the repeat the process.
- If blinking persists, take the GPS reading from the phone.
